DO IT
One of the events that the WPA offers its members is geared towards those who like to develop and create pyrotechnic items. This event is currently held in Lake Havasu City, AZ, and is held on the second weekend in October. Open to WPA members and their families, this is a three-day event starting on Thursday, with clean up held on Sunday.
DO IT is a spin-off of an event first held in 1998 across the river at the Avi Casino and Resort in Laughlin, NV; then called Pow Wow. Organized by WPA member and former VP of the club, Greg Boyd, this event came from the need to have a second event during the year and geared more towards the hobbyist. While in 1998 there were few participants, this event has grown in popularity and attendance each year and now boasts attendance in the triple digits.
As well as those interested in the creation of new pyrotechnic effects, there is something for everyone, including seminars, safety classes, demonstrations and nightly displays which guarantee the attendee plenty of memories to return home with.
Members can pre-order fireworks items from the attending vendors that will be delivered to the event and then shoot them within designated safe areas. For the first time fireworks enthusiast to the seasoned professional, there is plenty of fireworks action for all ages!
So, what are you waiting for? If you are not currently a member, or are a member but haven’t made it to DO IT yet, why not mark your calendar today for October and come see for yourself the magic that’s created in the skies above beautiful Lake Havasu City, AZ.
See you there!
