Why Camp
The closest you can stay to the action
Most of Western WinterBlast happens at Sara Park: manufacturing, the trade show, seminars, open shooting and the night shows. Camp in the RV and member area and it's all a short walk away, with no drive back to town after the last shell.
The Pyro Spec and Fireworks America camps are bigger setups with common areas and fire pits. Need a hand or a piece of gear? Ask. Sharing supplies and helping neighbors is part of camping at Western WinterBlast.

Dry Camping
Plan your camp
There are no hookups at Sara Park. Bring what you need to run your camp for the week.
Power
Bring a generator and extra fuel. Gas stations are a short drive away when you need to top off. Got power to spare? Share it with a neighbor; if someone shares with you, chip in for fuel.
Water
Bring water containers or a tank. There's a water source on the grounds; you fill and carry it yourself.
Waste
Grey and black water service is available for a fee: Fireworks America organizes a morning pump-out truck. Ask the RV Chair for the schedule. Leave no trace, and use the trash receptacles.
Ground
The camping area is dirt and reground asphalt. Bring heavy-duty stakes and tie-downs, a tarp or mat for a stable floor, and sturdy shoes.

The full Camping Guide
Everything above, in the guide's own words
Camping Overview
This is dry-dock camping—meaning no on-site hookups for water or electricity. Here are the basics:
- Multiple Spots: Need extra space? Let us know, and we’ll work it out. Each spot has its own registration fee.
- Self-Sufficiency: Be ready to handle your own water, power, and waste needs. This is a "leave no trace" setup.
- Terrain: The camping area is mostly dirt and reground asphalt, so plan accordingly.
What to Bring
Preparation is key for a great camping experience. Here’s what you’ll need:
Power
- Bring a generator for electricity.
- Pack extra fuel to keep things running smoothly. Nearby fuel stations are available if you need to top off.
Water
- Bring water containers or tanks to store what you need.
- A water source is available on the event grounds, but you’ll need to fill and transport it yourself.
Waste Management
- Grey water and waste disposal services are available for a fee. Fireworks America organizes a morning pump-out truck. See the RV Chair for specifics.
Camping Gear
- A sturdy tent or RV that can handle dirt and reground asphalt.
- Sleeping gear: Sleeping bags, cots, or air mattresses.
- Cooking supplies: Portable stoves, grills, utensils, and cookware.
- Lighting: Lanterns, flashlights, and plenty of batteries.
- Personal essentials: Toiletries, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a first aid kit.
Tips for Camping on Rough Terrain
- Use heavy-duty stakes and tie-downs to secure your tent or canopy.
- Lay down a tarp or mat for a stable surface.
- Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes for navigating uneven ground.
Community Atmosphere
One of the best parts of camping at Western WinterBlast is the community spirit. Here’s what makes it special:
- Friendly Assistance: The Pyro Spec and Fireworks America camps are larger setups with common areas and fire pits. If you need help or gear, don’t hesitate to ask.
- Shared Resources: Many campers are happy to share supplies or lend a hand—it’s all part of the experience.
Camp Rules
- Registration: Each camping spot must be registered by a WPA member or a registered guest of one.
- Cost: Camping is $75 per spot for the entire event, payable in advance or on arrival.
- Pass Display: Your camping pass must be displayed on your RV or tent.
- Placement: The RV camp host has the final say on where RVs are parked.
- Noise: Generators in the quiet camping area should be minimized as much as possible between 11:30 PM and 8:30 AM.
- Sharing Power: If you have excess generator power, consider sharing with neighbors. If someone offers you power, pitching in for fuel is a nice gesture.
- Cleanliness: Keep your campsite tidy. Trash must go in proper receptacles.
- Water Services: Black, grey, and fresh water services are available for a fee. Check with the RV Camp host for schedules.
Important Reminders
- Respect the "leave no trace" policy.
- Plan ahead to avoid last-minute stress. Local hardware and big-box stores are nearby for supplies.
