About Matthew
Matthew Bergondo, the founder of Tru Patriot CPR, brings a lifetime of dedication and expertise in emergency response and lifesaving training. An honorably discharged disabled veteran, Matt served in the United States Air Force as a firefighter, where his passion for lifesaving began.
During his service, Matt was stationed in diverse locations, including Wyoming, Guam, and Saudi Arabia. It was in Guam where he became a certified CPR instructor in 1996, a certification he proudly maintains. After his military service, Matt joined the Department of Defense Fire Department, advancing rapidly through the ranks to become a Captain. Over his distinguished career, he contributed to specialized teams such as Dive Rescue, High Angle/Confined Space Rescue, and Hazmat, and was instrumental in EMS as the program coordinator. He also became a certified EMT instructor, facilitating courses for military and civilian personnel. Upon retiring from firefighting, Matt continued to impart his knowledge, working as a Safety Professional for a major electrical company in the oil and gas sector. His expertise led him to become a Certified Safeland instructor, conducting essential safety courses.
In 2024, Matt and his wife Tristan relocated to Lake Havasu City, AZ, drawn by their love for the community and a desire to give back. Tristan, a dedicated nurse, and Matt, both active in their local church, share a deep commitment to helping others. Their dedication to public safety and community welfare drives their mission at Tru Patriot CPR.
